In 2019, EZ Electric Bikes & Scooters celebrated it’s 10th Year Anniversary. The following article ran in the Exeter Newsletter:

Exeter, NH – June 4, 2019 – Recently, EZ Electric Bikes & Scooters celebrated its 10 year anniversary, an occasion that has left Co-owner Teresa Hemenway not only happy, but grateful.

“We wouldn’t be here after 10 years without our scooter and electric bike buddies,” she said. “They’ve given us great Google and Facebook reviews over the years and have sent their friends and family in to purchase scooters and bikes.”

She said she and her husband Tommy, who co-owns the business, are also grateful for “a wonderful staff” that consists of Sean Beauman, Derek Thompson, Steve Phillips and Steve Lambert.

“They make coming to work something to look forward to each day,” she said.

Despite success through the years, Hemenway acknowledged there have been some missteps along the way, too.

“When we first got into scooters, we took on cheap Chinese ones and learned the hard way through trial and error, a valuable lesson on quality,” she said.

Shortly thereafter, Hemenway said they picked up Lance/SYM brand and Genuine Scooters a year later.

“Both are excellent quality scooters made in Taiwan and backed by a 2-year warranty,” she said. “It’s been a win-win for us and for our customers.”

In further explaining their success, Hemenway cited positive industry trends, noting scooters have “definitely increased in popularity,” particularly in the Seacoast.

“They’re a blast to ride,” she said. “You can park them almost anywhere and they get 100+ miles per gallon. We are also seeing more interest in electric scooters and electric bikes, which are so popular in other countries, Europe and Asia. We also believe we will benefit from new electric bike ride-sharing.”

Along the way, EZ Electric Bikes & Scooters has partnered with area nonprofits to help meet community needs through scooter and electric bike raffles. Nonprofits with whom they have worked include My Breast Cancer Support Group, NHSPCA, Annie’s Angels Exeter Area Lions Club, and Veterans Count.

“It’s important we give back to a community that has given us so much,” added Hemenway.

In looking ahead, Hemenway expressed excitement at providing their storefront a facelift with new paint, signs and awning. She said the improvements will help separate EZ Electric Bikes & Scooters from Autosounds of NH, which Tommy opened in 1979 and is located in the same building.

“We’re also looking forward to offering electric scooters this year and have a new line of electric bikes,” she said. “We are excited for our future and grateful for our past.”
